Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy sets forth the terms, conditions, and purposes under which CINDE collects, stores, uses, circulates, suppresses, and processes the personal data of Life Sciences Forum 2026 Participants, the security and confidentiality conditions applicable to such information, and the procedures established so that data subjects may exercise the rights set forth under personal data protection laws.

For purposes of this Privacy Policy, the term “Participant” means any natural person who has registered to participate in Life Sciences Forum.

The rights of Participants, in addition to those referenced in this Privacy Policy, are those established in the Law on the Protection of Individuals with Regard to the Processing of Personal Data (Law No. 8968) and its Regulations (Executive Decree No. 37554-JP).

Collection and Processing of Personal Data

All personal data entered on this site is provided by you of your own free will. The information stored here comprises only basic data entered through contact forms, comments, or similar means. For such purposes, CINDE may subcontract third parties to process Participants’ information and/or to carry out any other activity required by CINDE in connection with Life Sciences Forum 2026.

CINDE shall process personal data for the purposes indicated herein. “Processing” shall be understood as any operation or set of operations, carried out by automated or manual means and applied to personal data, such as collection, recording, organization, storage, modification, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination, or any other form that facilitates access, comparison, or interconnection, as well as blocking, suppression, or destruction, among others.

To offer event benefits to both Participants and Sponsors, CINDE requires the collection — directly or through contracted third parties — of sufficient data to complete the contact form. The Participant completing the form must be the Data Subject (the owner of the data) and must be authorized to consent to its processing.

By accepting this Privacy Policy, the Data Subject expressly agrees that CINDE may process, obtain, compile, exchange, update, collect, reproduce, and/or dispose of their personal data or information, in whole or in part, for the purposes set forth herein.

Your personal data belongs solely to you, and CINDE is responsible for not disclosing your information except with your express authorization or as required by law. Should you choose not to provide your personal data, CINDE will be unable to share your information with Life Sciences Forum Sponsors for the purpose of receiving communications from them.

Transfer of Data to Third Parties

By accepting this Privacy Policy, the Participant agrees and authorizes CINDE, as recipient, to process, obtain, compile, exchange, update, collect, reproduce, share, and/or dispose of their personal data, in whole or in part, as well as to transfer such data to third countries, and likewise to service providers or technology intermediaries, who shall use the information solely for the purposes stated above.

Once a Participant has shared their QR code with Sponsors of interest during Life Sciences Forum 2026, CINDE will grant those Sponsors access to the relevant profile so they may contact Participants and share relevant information.

CINDE may engage third parties to process Participants’ information and/or to carry out any other activity required in connection with Life Sciences Forum 2026. This may involve the transfer of personal data to any country, including countries with a level of data protection different from that of Costa Rica. By accepting this Privacy Policy, the Participant expressly consents to such transfer. CINDE does not sell or distribute Participants’ personal information to third parties for profit.

The Participant acknowledges that CINDE may disclose this information to judicial, administrative, or governmental authorities exercising supervisory functions over its operations when required by law to do so, and agrees that their data may be subject to internal or external audit processes conducted by companies responsible for such oversight.

By registering for Life Sciences Forum 2026, Participants grant their express authorization for the processing of their personal data under the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Protection of Personal Information

CINDE has implemented all reasonable security measures to protect user information and prevent misuse, manipulation, or unauthorized access. However, users acknowledge that such measures may not be sufficient to prevent accidental loss of information, the use of new technologies, hacker attacks, or similar threats.

The provision of the requested data is voluntary; therefore, you are under no obligation to supply personal information. However, the sole consequence of not providing the required data will be CINDE’s inability to fulfill the aforementioned purposes, as the information requested is strictly necessary and not excessive, in compliance with the data quality principle enshrined in the applicable regulations.

As indicated in the form, some personal information is optional while other information is mandatory. Failure to complete required fields prevents registration in our database and, therefore, precludes fulfillment of the stated purposes. All other information not identified as mandatory is purely optional.

Amendments to the Privacy Policy

CINDE reserves the right to change its Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes shall take effect immediately upon notice, which may be provided via email or by posting on the website. No amendment shall be to the detriment of Participants’ rights or applicable regulations.

Use of Cookies

Cookies and other technologies discussed in this section allow CINDE to recognize Participants’ and other users’ preference information, track transactions, and facilitate efficient website administration. Cookies help establish a user session and enable a server to provide website users with appropriate information, advertisements, and services.

CINDE also uses cookies to ensure Participants obtain requested information, to authenticate their authorization to access the website, and to track website usage in order to improve it according to Participants’ needs.

If a Participant does not wish their personal information to be collected through cookies, they may change their preferences in their own web browser. Some website functionality may not work properly if a web browser does not accept cookies. Participants should consult their web browser for instructions on how to change cookie settings.

Personal Information Collected Through the Website

CINDE may collect personal information from a Participant or from any person browsing the website, and may automatically collect personal information from website usage through cookies, web beacons, or other technologies.

The use of cookies and your IP address collected by this site is carried out solely for the purpose of maintaining the site in accordance with your local preferences (such as web browser used, operating system, ISP, etc.). Cookies enable the delivery of content tailored to the interests and needs of our users.

The website may enable access to the websites of participating Companies, which may also use their own cookies solely for the purpose of providing additional or relevant information related to the Participant’s navigation. CINDE and its external service providers or the Companies also use these tools to analyze the use of the website and its services. CINDE may use this personal information in aggregate form or combine it with personal information already collected about Participants.

Procedure for Exercising Your Rights

Inquiries

The Data Subject or their representatives may request access to their personal data held in the database. CINDE will provide the requested information upon verification of the requester’s standing. Inquiries will be addressed within a maximum period of five (5) business days from receipt. Where it is not possible to address the inquiry within that period due to the need for additional information, CINDE may request the Data Subject to provide the necessary elements or documents, on one occasion only, within the five (5) business days following receipt of the inquiry. The Data Subject shall have five (5) business days from the day after receipt of such request to comply. Failure to respond within that period shall be deemed as withdrawal of the corresponding inquiry. Should the Participant comply with the information request, CINDE shall have five (5) business days to respond, commencing the day after the Participant complies.

Claims

If the Data Subject or their representatives consider that the personal data contained in the database should be corrected, updated, or deleted, or if they identify an alleged failure to comply with any obligation set forth in Costa Rican legislation, they may file a claim with CINDE under the following rules:

  • The claim must be submitted in writing to CINDE, including the claimant’s identification, a description of the facts giving rise to the claim, their address, and any supporting documents. If the claim is incomplete, we will notify the claimant within five (5) days of receipt to remedy any deficiencies. If five (5) business days elapse from such notification without the required information being submitted, the claim will be deemed withdrawn.
  • Should CINDE lack jurisdiction to resolve the claim, it shall be transferred to the appropriate authority within a maximum period of five (5) business days, and the claimant shall be duly notified.
  • The maximum period for addressing the claim shall be five (5) business days from the day following receipt of the duly supported claim.
  • Requests for deletion of information, withdrawal of authorization, or requests to restrict the use and disclosure of personal data shall not be admissible where the Data Subject has a legal or contractual obligation to remain in the database, as provided by applicable law.
